Vantage Partners is seeking an experienced engineer to provide support for verification and validation (V&V) of guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) algorithms developed for deep space exploration spacecraft. The V&V analyses identify high-risk areas, reduce errors, and facilitate successful completion of project objectives.  In addition, the incumbent will work with a team of NASA civil servants and support contractors in the Mission Design and Architecture Branch at NASA Glenn Research Center to support design studies and develop prototype GN&C system solutions. This work will support a new GRC initiative for the NASA, Power and Propulsion Element and Gateway System Space Flight projects.

Primary responsibilities will include V&V of GN&C algorithms in order to provide objective evaluation into the progress, quality, and accuracy of the development effort.  Other responsibilities will include supporting GN&C planning and requirements generation, including simulation configuration and execution, data processing, and reporting on the results. The incumbent may also perform trade studies, develop navigation analysis tools, and conduct predictive performance analysis.


Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in the requirements generation, design, integration, qualification, verification, and validation of GN&C algorithms
  • Demonstrated experience supporting the development of spacecraft GN&C architectures, and planning and conducting GN&C performance and simulation analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with development and analysis of feedback control systems and/or closed-loop GN&C algorithms 
  • Skilled at both written and verbal communication in order to produce high quality documentation of verification and validation results.  These documents will include technical presentations and papers, as well as reports to project managers.
  • Demonstrated organizational and coordination skills in order to facilitate the working relationships among the various team members
  • Experience with GN&C 6 DOF simulation of satellite or spacecraft applications
  • Proficiency with any of: C/C++, Python, MATLAB
  • U.S. citizenship is required



  • BS/MS Aerospace Engineering
  • 10 years of experience
