Description:
Vantage Partners, LLC currently has an opening for a qualified individual to support research/engineering work with the NASA GRC, Intelligent Control and Autonomy Branch in Aeronautics. This position will provide engineering support to NASA to help develop and implement realistic aircraft propulsion/system models of current aircraft and anticipated future electrified aircraft concepts. For this effort, the individual will work within a team to develop and implement models for propulsion systems and their control and perform integration and testing of these models for simulations with flight simulation/simulator hardware. In addition to this work area, the position will also provide support to research being done at NASA GRC in Hypersonics. In this capacity, the individual will be involved with testing of conceptual propulsion systems. The work will focus on instrumentation hardware assembly and check-out leading to integration with NASA wind tunnel facilities control room.
Required Qualifications:
- Familiarity with aircraft propulsion system principles and concepts
- Familiarity with Hybrid-electric and Electric air vehicle principles and concepts.
- Experience with MATLAB programming/scripting and Simulink is essential
- Experience with dSpace systems in high performance test/development environment
- Experience with computer system hardware configurations used for high-speed/real-time applications
- U.S. citizenship
Other Desired Skills:
- Experience with aircraft propulsion system principles and concepts
- Experience with Hybrid-electric and Electric air vehicle principles and concepts.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a development team.
- Familiar with Python scripting language
- Familiar with real-time system software development
Education/Experience:
- BS Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science
- 3 - 5 years of professional experience desired, however consideration will be given to qualified candidates with relevant experience
