Communications Network Engineer


Vantage Partners, LLC is a multi-disciplinary engineering services company providing progressive solutions to projects within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the NASA prime contractor community.

This position will provide engineering support for research, development and performance characterizations of industry data communications protocols – in particular, Multipath TCP (MPTCP) and PPP Multilink Protocol (PPP-MP). The person in this role will assist with building applications that utilize existing protocols, and develop support software for their use in a laboratory/research test-bed environment for performance analysis.


  • Understanding and experience with communication and network technologies and concepts including: TCP/IP protocol layers and their service models, Application Layer protocols, Transport layer connection and connectionless protocols, Network layer routing algorithms, IP protocol and network mobility
  • Understanding and experience with data Link Layer including: ARP, DHCP, PPP
  • Understanding and experience with network architectures
  • Understanding and working experience with Linux operating systems
  • Programming in Python, C, C++ and other languages
  • Experience with kernel development (e.g. writing drivers)
  • Experience with packet sniffers
  • U.S. Citizen

Other Desired Skills:

  • Understanding and working experience with developing test application tools for problem resolution.

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Communications, or Computer Science with background in Communications/Networking


  • 3-5 years of experience
