Configuration Management Specialist

Description

Description:

In support of various projects at NASA Glenn Research Center, the services provided by the Configuration Management Specialist shall include identification, configuration control and configuration status accounting for all phases of a project. Efforts include planning and documentation of project meetings; maintaining effective controls over versioning of project documents, specifications, manuals, etc.; coordination with team members; and organization of data in a central repository for ease of access, data integrity, and data availability.

 

Specific duties will include:

  • Maintain effective controls and tracking of applicable/latest revision or version for project data and system components: project specifications, system software, design data/drawings, engineering and project documentation
  • Coordinate publication and collaboration of documentation and changes
  • Organize data to facilitate ease of access and retrieval for project team members’ and management’s decision-making process
  • Support various project reviews (Requirements Readiness, Preliminary Design, Critical Design, Flight Readiness, etc.) using agreed to repositories for relevant data for access availability for all review members
  • Ensure that all project documents are version-control maintained, tracked and archived within the agreed to systems. Windchill or e-Room should be the primary repository for documentation
  • Create project repositories and libraries for all project configuration items for data retention and storage
  • Provide any training to team members to facilitate all configuration management processes and procedures
  • Provide agenda for monthly team meetings and take minutes of those meetings
  • Maintain archive of minutes project and project control board meetings, including action items
  • Create any necessary reports to aid the project manager and project team members

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • MS Office products, eRoom knowledge and excellent organizational skills
  • Create CM policies and procedures for the project to follow including CM plan
  • Coordinate project meetings including engineering and project meetings, manufacturing meetings, change control boards
  • Ability to evaluate requirements, contribute to developing and implementing preferred CM principles and processes
  • Strong organizational and people soft-skills
  • Engineering and hardware development project experience
  • Ability to collaborate with engineers and program/project managers and team members to aid in configuration and data management
  • U.S. citizenship 

 

 

Other Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of PTC “Windchill” Product Data Manager

 

 

Education/Experience:

  • BA or BS
  • 8 to 15 years of experience
