Electrical/Power Systems Engineer

Vantage Partners, LLC Is seeking individuals for its Electrical Engineering department to provide engineering support to a NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) initiative to develop the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) for the NASA Gateway Program. Gateway is an upcoming NASA Program to provide a continued presence in lunar orbit to facilitate both human and robotic missions in cislunar space.  Contributors on this project will work collaboratively with our NASA customer on the design and development of the PPE, space-based Electrical Power System (EPS). The work will involve EPS requirements assessment and vendor design and development insight, and will include independent analysis, verification and validation of EPS subsystems working toward PPE EPS operation and integration for Gateway applicability.


Required Qualifications:

  • Electrical Power Systems design experience including: Solar power generation, High-power/high-voltage power processing, Electric Power management, distribution and energy storage.
  • Modeling experience implementing Matlab/Simulink.  Power system stability analysis including experience with line impedance measurements.
  • Experience developing power system testbeds and performing power quality measurements.
  • Experience in assessing technical, programmatic, cost and schedule implications of system design approaches.
  • Experience with environmental effects as they relate to space platform Electrical Power Systems.
  • U.S. citizenship.


Other Desired Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a development team.
  • Understanding of power electronic components including DC/DC converters, battery charge/discharge control, solar array power generation and regulation, and DC bus power quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of Electrical Power Systems fault management systems.

  • 10 years of experience
