Facility Engineer

Description

Vantage Partners, LLC is a multi-disciplinary engineering services company providing progressive solutions to projects within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the NASA prime contractor community.

Description:

The selected candidate will work with our facility engineering and design group to develop new design and maintenance repair solutions for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, and refrigeration systems, including HVAC controls throughout the NASA Glenn Research Center campus. The selected engineer will meet directly with the NASA customer to obtain requirements and expectations needed to lead the design activities throughout the lifecycle of a project. 

 

Mechanical engineering services to support renovations of laboratory spaces and offices, modifications to water (chilled water, cooling tower water, domestic water, fire protection,) natural gas, steam, and air piping systems, upgrades to HVAC systems, and perform pipe stress analyses. Provide CAD design and drafting services in support of the disciplines listed above. The selected engineer will be required to work with CAD technicians to perform field verifications and measurements, review record drawings, size and select equipment, and provide support for "as-built" drafting to modify record drawings for completed construction projects.

 

The selected individual shall carry out a variety of moderate to complex design tasks, exercising considerable initiative and independent judgment. Site visits to the NASA Glenn Research Center facilities to obtain system information and configuration details shall be required. Specific work elements include:

1)     Plans, conducts, and technically supports projects or major phases of significant projects.

2)     Reviews literature, patents, and current practices relevant to performing assigned projects.

3)     Recommends corrections in technical applications.

4)     Provides project status to client and company management through written status reports and verbal presentations.

5)     Monitors deliverables and ensures adequate quality review prior to presentation to the client.

6)     Participates in technical meetings to isolate performance issues, develop procedures for corrective action, and make recommendations for modifications.

7)     Documents procedures for all technical aspects of assigned work.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • A highly motivated, proactive self-starter with strong communication skills 
  • Strong working knowledge of ASHRAE compliant building codes, especially mechanical, plumbing and energy
  • Ability to perform HVAC calculations
  • Working knowledge of fire protection and safety systems
  • Working knowledge of various energy code compliance documentation requirements
  • Strong installation, start-up & troubleshooting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD software is required (current version is R2016)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel)
  • U.S. citizenship 

 

Other Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of the Synergis ADEPT data management system 
  • Knowledge of “Carrier” Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) software
  • An Ohio Professional Engineer Registration, LEED AP accreditation

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology degree w/applicable experience 
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience
