Flight Software Engineer


Vantage Partners, LLC is a multi-disciplinary engineering services company providing progressive solutions to projects within the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the NASA prime contractor community.

Provide software engineering, development, and oversight support to NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) Research and Engineering Directorate for a space flight project.

Support effort to improve solar electric propulsion for deep space exploration on the Advanced Electric Propulsion System (AEPS) project.  Provide support for the Power Processing Unit (PPU) in the Solar Electric Propulsion system.  This system contains software provided by the AEPS contractor that requires insight and oversight to ensure that the resulting product will meet NASA's needs and will also follow NASA's standards for software development. The PPU is responsible for the operation of the propulsion system.  Provide support for early software lifecycle activities for the Plasma Diagnostics Package (PDP).  This system needs support for the development of the software plan, requirements, and design.  The PDP is used to collect high-value plasma plume data.


Senior Software Engineer with the following skills and experience:

  • Flight software engineering, development and oversight
  • Software requirements analysis and architecture design
  • Authoring requirements, design and test documents
  • Designing, documenting, and implementing flight software architecture
  • Experience with implementing requirements in design
  • Software embedded programming support
  • Testing and debugging embedded controllers
  • Knowledge in software development with an understanding of good software engineering practices
  • Good communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Other Desired Skills:

  • Software embedded programming support in a variety of programming languages, development environments, and operating systems.
  • Understanding of NASA software standards including NPR 7150.2.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a development team.

  • BS Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent


  • 20+ years of experience in Software Development / Engineering / Software Oversight
