Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer

Vantage Partners is seeking an engineer to provide support for engineering analysis for deep space exploration spacecraft using a 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF) simulation. The incumbent will work with a team of NASA civil servants and support contractors in the Mission Design and Architecture Branch to support design studies and develop prototype guidance, navigation and control (GNC) system solutions. Typical responsibilities will include supporting GNC planning, requirements generation, and software V&V activities, including simulation configuration and execution, data processing, and reporting on the results. The incumbent may also perform trades studies, develop navigation analysis tools, and conduct predictive-performance analysis.


Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with GNC 6 DOF simulation of satellites or spacecraft applications
  • Demonstrated experience in the requirements generation, design, integration, qualification, verification, and validation of GNC algorithms
  • Experience supporting the development of spacecraft GNC architectures, and planning and conducting GNC performance and simulation analysis
  • Analysis of feedback control systems and/or closed-loop GNC algorithms
  • Proficiency with any of: C/C++, Python, MATLAB
  • Ability to synthesize analysis and results into presentations and technical papers, and to communicate effectively, written and oral
  • U.S. citizenship is required


Other Desired Skills:

  • 6 DOF vehicle simulation experience: MASTIF, MAVERIC, or Antares.
  • Experience with the TRICK simulation environment is a plus.
  • Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel



  • BS/MS Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • 10 years of experience
