Vantage Partners, LLC is seeking an addition to its aerospace engineering department in the field of mechanical engineering that will include aerospace research hardware design of many sorts and sizes.  VPL provides supportive services to a wide range of projects at NASA Glenn Research Center and seeks a candidate with the ability to rapidly learn and immediately contribute.  Must have knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to mechanical engineering; knowledge of aerospace systems and principles is a plus.



  • Able to conduct and manage all phases of mechanical engineering design including computer aided design and engineering analysis, to review and digest scientific documentation, to generate relevant project documentation, and to perform trade studies, project scheduling, costing, hardware selection and procurement, and coordination of fabrication and assembly of designed hardware
  • Able to analyze systems and components with regards to pressure, flow, thermal, structural, reliability, and safety considerations
  • Able to conduct formal design reviews of own designs and to review the designs of others.
  • Able to assess the risks associated with the operation of designed hardware and systems and the ability to constructively participate in GRC Safety Office meetings
  • Able to plan and oversee tests including hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak, vibration, functional, and reliability
  • Able to produce quality work on multiple concurrent projects
  • Able to effectively write and communicate highly technical subject matter
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident


Desired Skills:

  • Experience using Creo (Pro/Engineer)
  • Experience with analysis tools such as ANSYS and Creo/Simulate
  • Design and analysis skills to address mechanical, structural, and thermal challenges associated with aerospace systems and their materials of construction
  • Familiarity with subsonic, supersonic, and hypersonic flow
  • Familiarity with Solidworks
  • Able to provide direction and mentoring to other personnel within the organization
  • Willingness and flexibility to take on assignments outside the direct area of expertise



  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 plus years of experience
