Description:

Provide software engineering and development support to NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) Research and Engineering Directorate in support of Hybrid Gas Electric Propulsion (HGEP) subproject of the Advanced Aircraft Transportation Technology (AATT). This project supports activities that are being conducted to establish system designs and technology that will enable a 150-passenger aircraft to be propelled using fans or propellers driven by electric motors.

Provide software support (requirements, design, implementation, and test) for the HGEP reconfigurable NASA Electric Aircraft Testbed (NEAT) being developed at Plum Brook Station for validating electric aircraft power systems. Work on the control framework for the testbed and integrate it into the existing Hypersonic Test Facility (HTF).

Anticipated travel to NASA Plum Brook in Sandusky, Ohio on an average of two times per week.  

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Software engineering and development knowledge with an understanding of good software engineering practices
  • Software requirements analysis and architecture design
  • Designing, documenting and implementing software architecture
  • Experience with implementing requirements in design
  • All phases of software testing including unit testing as well as debugging
  • Authoring requirements, design and test documents
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as a member of a software development team. 
  • U.S. citizenship

 

Other Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of controls (PID)
  • Ability to read schematics.
  • Languages: C/C#, Bash script
  • Operating Systems: Linux and Windows
  • Protocols: CANBus, UDP, TCP/IP
  • Understanding of NASA software standards including NPR 7150.2.

 

Education/Experience:

  • BS Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 to 10 years of experience
