Vantage Partners, LLC at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio is currently seeking a Software Engineer. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the NASA GRC COMPASS engineering team’s collaboration software called GLIDE. GLIDE (Global Integrated Design Environment) is a data collaboration tool that facilitates secure transfer of data, which supports the COMPASS team and its concurrent engineering environment. These responsibilities include day-to-day support of the COMPASS team, maintenance of the GLIDE source code, updating application and server libraries, testing software updates to identify and prevent technical issues, and tracking and resolving issues that occur due to security and OS updates. In addition, the software engineer is expected to contribute to the improvement of the GLIDE software as it evolves to meet the needs of the COMPASS team.
In particular, the GLIDE programmer will need to be skilled with Ruby on Rails development and RESTful APIs and with multi-platform desktop applications built with Python and PySide (Qt bindings) that integrate with Microsoft Excel through VBA scripts. In addition, maintaining and curating the GLIDE website is required.
Required Skills:
- Software development for GLIDE and maintenance of the GLIDE website:
- Proficiency with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, Python
- HTML, CSS, VBA scripting, MySQL, and Excel
- Apache, Ubuntu Linux
- Work independently and take the initiative to perform continuous evaluation, and willingness to learn new programming languages and tools as applicable, to improve the software product
- Organizational skills in order to facilitate the working relationships among various team members and communicate technical details
- U. S. citizenship is required
