Systems Analyst

Description

We are searching for two Systems Analysts to join our team providing highly specialized IT resources to the Engineering and Resource Directorate at the NASA Glenn Research Center.  Selected Individuals will perform (but not be limited to) the following job functions:

  • Install, configure and integrate engineering and scientific applications on end-user and lab systems.  Systems will be Windows, Mac, and Linux based.
  • Utilize remote tools and travel between buildings either on or near to the campus to complete complex installations.
  • Report on installation issues, providing documentation and corrective steps to enhance the installation process.
  • Annual renewal of engineering and scientific applications and licensing on servers, end user systems, and lab systems.
  • Review and comment on licensing contracts, processes and procedures written by Shared Services Center. 
  • Document and track local and network-based licensing throughout life cycle.
  • Utilize license management software tools to create reports and support licensing decisions.
  • Contribute to license management reporting standards and long-term budget discussions.
  • Report on license usage issues, providing documentation and corrective steps to enhance license provisioning.
  • Provide input and suggest actions to consolidate application licensing, resulting in streamlined purchases and administration. 
  • Utilize the team’s knowledge base server to learn, create new, and update existing license installation instructions.
  • Participate in various meetings regarding application and license management.
  • Create and respond to license support issues entered in to the environments ticketing system.
  • Provide help-desk support as needed for the research and engineering user community.

 

 Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows 7 &10, Linux Redhat and CentOS, and Mac OS.
  • Ability to install engineering and scientific applications and licensing, and configure certain applications to work in lab environments, with controllers and data collectors.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel. 
  • Experience with troubleshooting of application and licensing issues, with wherewithal to fix or escalate to obtain minimal user downtime. 
  • The ability to successfully complete NASA IT Security and Operating System training.
  • Clear writing and verbal communications in a team and customer environment. 
  • Able to maintain excellent standing and a strong network with the vendors and customer user base.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

 

Other Desired Skills:

Selected individuals will perform as a member of a larger team that has a varied skill set.  It would be an added bonus, but not required, if candidates have any of the following skills or training:

  • Understanding of application and installation.
  • Understanding of license management and usage monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting an engineering or research environment.
  • OS and other IT related certifications.
  • An understanding of IT Security practices/policies and why they are important.
  • PS and batch scripting, PHP programming, ColdFusion.
  • Windows Server management in a virtual environment.
  • Linux YUM and patching.  Redhat, CentOS or Ubuntu experience.
  • Configuration and integration of single sign-on (Centrify), LDAP, CA Certs.
  • Configuration and general use of web applications such as Atlassian products, PLM solutions, and MBSE tools.
  • Understand use of AWS and other Cloud services.
  • IIS and Apache/Tomcat installation and configuration.
Education

• Associates in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science

Experience

• 3 – 5 years of experience
